Decking: questions people ask

What timber is the decking made from?

Pressure-treated softwood decking boards on treated joists, the standard for outdoor timber in Cornwall's climate. If you want a particular board or a composite deck, say so when you ask for a quote.

Can you build seating into the deck?

Yes. Fixed benches, corner seating and matching tables are built from the same boards so the whole thing weathers together. The photos on this page show exactly that.

Can you repair an old deck rather than replace it?

Often, yes. Loose, split or rotten boards can be swapped and the deck cleaned and re-treated. If the joists underneath have gone, replacement is the honest answer, and Benno will tell you which it is.

How long does a deck take?

It depends on size, levels and whether seating or steps are included. Benno gives a timescale with the quote once he has seen the garden.
